![]() Words such as "energetic" or "enthusiastic" would hardly suffice when describing Massachusetts artist Brian Fox. "Exuberant" and "phrenetic" seem more apropos, but anyone spending less than 15 seconds with this man would still feel as though they were making a gross understatement. One is inspired by his sentiment for possibilities as being endless. And considering the wake of his career path, those sentiments have opened many doors for him. Fox has refined his oil painting and portraiture skills to such high levels that he is in demand by famous athletes such as Red Sox champions Curt Schilling and David Ortiz, Olympic gold medal winner Kurt Angle and Tom Brady of the New England Patriots. With the pirate craze in full swing, Disney is placing repeated orders for paintings of Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow (not to mention a request here and there for Mickey & Friends). Painting other stars portrayed as their more famed movie personae, celebrities such as Charlton Heston and Morgan Freeman have added Brian Fox originals to their collection. Brian is one of the go-to artists for collectors in the field of sports art, having been named the official artist of the MLB All-Star game in 2007, 2008 AND 2009. When Fox isn't brushing elbows with the cast of Grey's Anatomy in Hollywood or working with Curt Schilling at a fundraiser, he's typically found clutching any instrument that will yield a graphic mark. At a Sunday sermon, a ball game, a cultural event, with family or friends - Brian is inspired to pull out his sketchbook and jot things down. When he's run out of paper, the overflow is recorded onto the palm of his hand and up the length of his arm! The adage "do one thing and do it well" somewhat applies here... Brian Fox paints, but when he does, it's of many different things, and they're all done quite well. So well, in fact, that his work was displayed at last year's New York Art Expo, an event regarded as the "top of the hill" for those with extreme talent. Pure passion fuels this talent. Whether Brian is designing stained glass windows for a restored historic church, sketching a landscape, or painting a celebrity's portrait, that passion emerges from his art, and it's contagious. With the spirit of a true artist, Brian Fox's mission is genuine and sincere. Stepping out into the world with a high standard for excellence, he easily embraces the roles of both teacher and student - whatever means necessary to exchange information, hone his craft and then, ultimately, return to his atelier, put brush to canvas, and paint all things great in humanity.
