JASON ROBICHAU has been fascinated his entire life with recreating life on to a piece of paper. After graduating with a degree in business, he decided to become an artist. He quickly found that the road to becoming a successful artist is not paved. He spent approximately one year struggling until he decided that he needed to get a job. He took a job with the Houston Rockets working in sales (the complete opposite lifestyle of an artist). After 8 months he decided that the working world was not for him. He quit his job with the Rockets and pursued his passion and dream in life. Since quitting, over four years ago, God has blessed Jason with many open doors that have brought him around the nation, meeting incredible people. Jason believes his credo in life is that God has blessed him with the gift of different talents to help those that are less fortunate. Jason has been involved with many different charity events including the Jimmy V Foundation and Celebrity Fight Night (Muhammad Ali’s charity) in which his paintings have raised over $340,000. In the past few years he has also been commissioned to do paintings for the Houston Astros, Houston Rockets, Houston Comets, Boston Celtics, San Antonio Spurs, University of Texas, Duke University, and the Houston Texans. Along with sports teams, Jason has also been commissioned by some of the greatest names in sports and entertainment such as: Muhammad Ali, Britney Spears, Fleetwood Mac, Emmitt Smith, Yao Ming, JJ Redick and Red Auerbach. Jason is viewed as a self-taught artist. Even though he has taken many art classes in his life, he believes that creativity and the ability to create artwork is not something that can be taught. He contributes his progression as an artist to hard work and the simple technique of trial and error. Whenever he gets a crazy idea into his head about a new technique or subject, he tends to try it out to see where it takes him. Although sometimes it does not always work out as he pictures in his head, every once in a while he stumbles across something great. A lot of the art that Jason creates deals with the subject of sports. Two of his passions in life are sports and art, so he combines the two in which his focus as an artist is sports. However, Jason does not limit the art that he creates to only sports. Illusionism Illusionism consists of three-quarter inch squares. The squares are hand-painted with four to eight different colors encompassing each square. Each square has been described as a painting within itself. From up close the paintings are a collage of colors but as you move approximately three feet away, the paintings resemble a photograph. Depending on the size of the painting, there are anywhere from 70 to 100 different colors. In addition, there are 40 to 80 hours of painting involved in creating one of these truly unique paintings. Metallic Style The other style Jason paints involves using different shades of iridescent gold colors which looks like he melted gold. You have to see an origincal painting done in this style in person to truly appreciate it.
