Since bursting onto the scene just a few years ago Niki has quickly become one of the world’s most popular female athletes. She is arguably the most admired female X-treme sports athlete in the world. Her popularity continues to sky rocket because she is one of only a few mountain bikers who are competitive in both the Downhill (DH) and Cross Country (XC) disciplines. When you combine her need for speed and kamikaze racing style with her incredible good looks the result is a media darling that fans and photographers can’t get enough of. Niki is ranked number one and two in Australia in the National Series for XC and DH respectively. She has finished on the Downhill podium at every National Championship for the past three years and has achieved either a first or second ranking in every National Series. With 2008 quickly approaching Niki has now set her sights on the Olympic discipline of Cross Country mountain biking. She is currently in preparation for a big year ahead, including training and competition at the world’s highest level. Niki is currently ranked as one of the top female mountain bikers in the world. Niki’s athletic ability and stunning looks have attracted cover shots, feature stories and interviews across all mediums worldwide. She has adorned the cover of such magazines as Chick, Black + White and FHM, while being featured in magazines as diverse as Inside Sport, Rolling Stone, Maxim, Oxygen, Outside and Vogue. FHM magazine has voted Niki to their “100 Most Sexiest Women in the World” five years in a row (2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 & 2006). In 2002 the readers of Inside Sport magazine voted Niki as “Australia’s Sexiest Sportswoman”. Niki is also an accomplished designer having received her Bachelor of Creative Arts degree in 2002 after majoring in Graphic Design and New Media. In that same year, Niki was also crowned “Australia’s Sportsperson of the Year”. She was also honored with a University “Blue” Award, which is an international university acknowledgement for outstanding sporting achievement. Niki is coming off a 2006 season which she describes as very disheartening. Having suffered an injury in her fi rst race that became chronic, she was forced to end her season early. Niki continues to work hard on a rigorous training and rehabilitation program with hopes to compete again sometime in 2007. Her main goal is to regain her world class form so she can represent Australia in the 2008 Olympics. Although the injury was a major disappointment for Niki it unexpectedly opened up several opportunities for her. She has been approached by several networks interested in using her as a host/correspondent for some of their extreme sports themed programming. Niki is now pursuing several opportunities that exist for her in television. After being known for years throughout the world as “the Biker Babe”, Niki is excited at the opportunity to be able to show her fans the attributes that she prides herself on most, her intelligence and creativity. It is only a matter of time before the world realizes that this girl is the total package. |
